The Malka mineral resources
It
is a full-day itinerary. The Malka thermal and mineral springs area
is located 127 km apart from Petropavlovsk.
The Malka mineral resources were discovered since the times of
the first Kamchatka expeditions under the command of Atlasov and
Vitus Bering. The indigenous people inhabited the peninsula knew
for a long time about the curative characteristics of these springs,
but they didn't use the water because they believed that the "seething"
springs were the reflection of evil spirits and the curative characteristics
and some pleasant taste were added deliberately to the water composition
just to fool a "trustful" person.
After the mineral composition of the springs had been tested and
analyzed the people set up a small hospital to cure the soldiers
of the Kamchatka garrison. Unfortunately, the remote location of
such hot springs area from Petropavlovsk, the complicated pass through
the Middle Range, the abundance of rivers and rivulets made this
route difficult, especially for disabled people. So, you will hear
lots of interesting information about this area - the Malka thermal
and mineral springs area.
At present time here exist a settlement and a mineral water factory.
The up-date equipment of the factory produces mineral natural curative-drinking
water, artesian drinking water and other drinks enriched with vitamins.
During the itinerary you will visit the mineral factory and learn
about the output of mineral water, its curative characteristics
and composition. You can swim in a swimming-pool with thermal water,
undertake an excursion to the "wild" thermal pools or
"puddles". Here you will have a chance to see how the
hot springs are in neighborhood with a cold river, and the water
temperature in the hot "puddle" may be regulated by you
as you like by putting stones in a specific way.
