Fauna of Kamchatka
The fauna of the peninsula can be defined as of type, as far
as northern covered with mountains and forests is separated from
the nearest zone of forests by the area of Parapolsky Dol. In general
the animal world of Kamchatka is represented by 37 species of mammals,
7 species of finn-footed, and 240 species of birds.
Kamchatka is one of the world’s coexist so many species of marine
mammals: walruses, sea lions, northern furseals, common seals, sea
hare, larga seal, antur, and otter. To the sea mammals inhabiting
the waters surrounding Kamchatka also belong cochalots, killer whales,
white whales, and sea swines.
Among birds the best representation have swamp species: ducks,
geese, sea gulls. Most of Kamchatka’s refuges are located on the
nestling areas of these birds. On the lakes of the central part
of the peninsula and of Parapolsky Dol the whistling swans hibernate.
Colonies of birds are the indispensable feature of rocky shores
and small islands: the most common among their inhabitants’ isconsidered
a sea gull.
There are also some rare species of the birds of prey, included
into the List of Rare Species: white-tailed eagle, Steller’s Sea
Eagle, golden eagle, gyrfalcon, peregrine falcon.
